Individual Sports

This course has been designed for individuals who have an interest in sports as a recreational activity without the emphasis on high-level competition. A wide variety of activities are covered, where there is less emphasis on the result but more focus on teamwork and cooperation. The aim of this course is to promote an interest in physical activity and sports, which will lead to participation and involvement in and out of school and throughout life. Students will be introduced to alternative activities including climbing, archery, fitness, BirdieBall (golf variant), geocaching and tennis.

Students should develop the spirit of success both as individuals and as team players while applying the principles of fair play, honesty and responsibility. The course will focus on the importance of healthy living and the benefits of regular physical activity. Students will be provided with the background knowledge to develop their own fitness programs and will be expected to maintain a high level of fitness, which will be monitored.
